I like your idea about anything that we say should be able to be said in front of the people we are talking about. That is a high standard but a good one. However, I also think that people have curtains on their windows for a reason. Not necessarily to hide their wrongdoings, but just for the basic right to privacy. That inclines me to vote for a public and private area of the forum. Where we can have our debates regarding our (limited) policies and (simple) structure.

Once a member or guest/affiliate is IN the forum, I think they should have access to everything though. No secret documents or hidden policies.

I would prefer guests have only read access but im not suche a friend of a private area. I mean we all have dozens of communication methods if there is something we want to talk in private we will surely find one but would prefer the forum is clear and open so nobody get the impression her or she is not suitible to know whats going on.

Democracy at work! Great point Wenceslas? I'm wondering if you guys are thinking that we should have a verification step before someone makes an account? Because this would change the ideas concerning this poll. If anyone can read anything we post here WHAT IS TO STOP OUR MORTAL ENEMIES FROM LEARNING ALL OUR SECRETS!

But seriously, if anyone could come in here and trash the place, I would want privacy. But instead if anyone can read the forums, but we verify who gets posting permissions (friends, members, felons), then I am fine with Wenceslas' position. Feel free to chime in everyone, don't be shy!

Remember, as per our super strict bylaws that don't exist, this idea discussion remains open, interesting, and fantastic until we reach uber consensus of 200% agreement. Wink

Interestin so a registration may have a point, but i would then just devide it in open and company intern topics, so after a person is in the company we should speak open, sure there will be secrets but on the other hand, we play togeter and there should be a certain level of trust i think

how about the following:
membership takes approval, but everything is open and visible for every guest. but guests cannot write, so instead we put up one open thread as kind of a guestbook.

I think this protects you from trolls, but leaves the open enviroment that you wanted. Sounds good!
